What happens after a mustang is captured?

I'm trying to do research for a story involving the round-up and capture of equines, and I'm trying to find out what the process is after a mustang is captured. I know they're branded and/or microchipped, stallions are gelded, and the horses are sent to different holding facilities until (hopefully) the horse is adopted. But what is the actual process from capture to adoption?

I don't need information about the associated controversies and problems- that information's easily found everywhere.
