Ok, thanks. My knowledge does come from telly tropes and media, and it's not even an aspect I pay much attention to. The genre is inherently tropey x 2 (Thai lakorn and organised crime), so accuracy is a bonus rather than a requirement. I haven't written in details of the shooting, but this character would be angled relative to the space he's entering rather than taking it straight on - so more than a skin graze but not puncturing organs. I've always thought of it as closer to his hip (again, trope). The closest we get to information on his actual treatment is someone phoning his gang's doctor, but they don't have a way to be in contact until he's mobile again after that, so maybe he went to hospital if that's too unrealistic a trope.
Six weeks is a good time frame. That's the most important part here for the characters' arc and space for emotions to get complicated.
